Privacy Notice
You care about your data; we care about your data. Let’s get into it – plain English style.
By continuing to use the site you agree to the following terms of service. If you do not agree with the terms please refrain from using the website.
We collect no personal information about you without your consent. We collect anonymised analytics data to help improve the features of the site (see Cookies below) and data like your name and email address, if you give them to us (see Email & Communication below).
We use cookies for 3 reasons:
- Our cart plugin, ThriveCart, uses cookies to track where you are in your order, remember what’s in your cart, and send you an email reminder if you disappear mid-way.
- We use Google Analytics and HotJar to see what people are actually using on our website. This helps us see where people leave the site and make the website clearer or more useful when that happens. You can opt out of Analytics, and opt out of HotJar if you wish.
- We have a Facebook pixel on our site for advertising purposes (see Advertising & Conversion Tracking below). Opt out here.
As a new music ensemble, we have limited budget to reach the maximum amount of people with our music. Digital advertising is a very effective way to do that.
In order to better understand whether our advertising is working or not, we utilise something called ‘conversion tracking’. This tells us exactly how effective the advertising is and allows us to make informed decisions about how we advertise.
Here’s how it works. We place a small piece of code on our website called a ‘pixel’ which is linked to the advertising platform (let’s use Facebook as an example). When you click on one of our ads on Facebook a small file is downloaded to your system (a cookie) that says that you clicked the ad. If you then follow the ad through to our website and take a certain action, let’s say making a purchase, then Facebook can see that and tells us that ‘X number of people clicked on your ad on Facebook and then made a purchase on your website’. This lets us know whether our advertising is working, or whether we’re just feeding Zuck free money.
For example, in our case we set up adverts for anyone who’s visited the tickets page as we know they might be interested, and we encourage them to come with further information or promo videos.
Throughout this process, we have no access to individual data – meaning we don’t know anything about the people who visited our page. The information is all managed by the advertising platform (i.e. Facebook) and you should be able to manage what kinds of ads, or whether or not you want to see ads at all on that particular platform. You can manage your choices for Facebook here.
There are two ways in which we might obtain your email address and use it to contact you.
The first is if you opt-in to the mailing list via any of the opt-in forms. These email addresses are stored by Mailerlite which we use to manage our mailing list and send emails. All of these forms confirm your willingness to receive email communication by sending you a confirmation email. You will always find an ‘unsubscribe’ link or a link to ‘update your preferences’ at the bottom of any email we send you from Mailerlite.
You can read Mailerlite’s Privacy Policy here.
The second way we might obtain your email address is when you make a purchase. In order for ThriveCart, the cart plugin we use, to send you the purchase receipt or a download link they need your email address. This will add you to a list of previous customers that is stored in our Mailerlite account.
You can read ThriveCart’s Privacy Policy here.
